Just a stone’s throw away from the College, Tower Bridge is one of London’s most iconic landmarks, enduringly beloved by locals and visitors. To give its correct description, Tower Bridge is a Grade I listed combined bascule and suspension bridge, built between 1886-1894: but book facts aside, there is something indescribably exciting about being on the Thames when the sky is blue, and the bridge pulls up into two halves to let a ship through. You can walk on the bridge and climb the tower, but we recommend taking a boat ride up to Westminster from St Katharine Docks to pass under its fabled shadow. On Thames Clipper boats you can pay a contactless fare by Oyster or debit card – that’s history and convenience combined.
